Contact

You can reach us by email at [email protected]. One person reads this inbox. We aim to reply within three business days, and we read everything even when a reply takes longer.

There is no contact form on this page on purpose. We do not want your name, your address, your age, your income, or your health information sitting in a database we run. Email us with only what you are comfortable sending.

What we can help with

Corrections. This is the most useful message you can send us. If a dollar figure, a program name, an eligibility rule, or a citation on this site is wrong or out of date, tell us which page and what you believe the correct information is. If you can point to the official source, even better. We publish corrections with a dated note on the page itself rather than silently editing, and our full correction policy is described on our About and Editorial Standards page.

Source questions. If you want to know where a number came from, ask. Every figure on this site is supposed to trace back to a federal regulation, a state administrative code, a state Medicaid agency page, or an official program document. If we cannot show you the source, that is a problem with our work and we want to know about it. Our sourcing rules are on the How We Source Our Data page.

A program we have missed. Home modification funding is fragmented across dozens of state and local programs, and many of them are poorly documented online. If your state, county, city, tribe, or utility runs something we have not written about, send us the link.

Questions about how this site makes money. Answered in full on the How We Get Paid page, but if something there is unclear, ask.

What we cannot help with

We are publishers, not benefits counselors. We do not have access to any Medicaid, Medicare, VA, or housing agency system, we cannot look up your case, and we cannot tell you whether you personally will be approved for anything. We are also not lawyers, financial advisers, or tax advisers, and nothing we send you is legal, financial, or medical advice.

If you need someone to look at your actual situation, these people do that for free and are far better positioned than we are:

  • Your Area Agency on Aging, found through the federal Eldercare Locator at eldercare.acl.gov or by calling 1-800-677-1116. They know the local programs that never make it onto the internet.
  • Your State Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP), for Medicare and Medicare Advantage questions, at shiphelp.org. Free, unbiased, and not selling anything.
  • Your state Medicaid agency or its enrolled case management entity, for waiver eligibility, waiting lists, and prior authorization. Home modification is almost always authorized through a case manager, not through a public application form.
  • An accredited Veterans Service Organization, for VA grant questions. Accredited representatives file claims for free; anyone charging you a fee to file an initial VA claim should be treated with suspicion.
  • A Center for Independent Living, at ilru.org, many of which run their own small modification funds or maintain contractor lists.

Please do not send us

Do not send us your Social Security number, your Medicaid or Medicare ID, medical records, bank details, or scanned identity documents. We have no use for them and no reason to hold them. If you have already sent something like this, tell us and we will delete it.

We also do not accept guest posts, sponsored articles, paid link placements, or “we noticed a broken link on your page” outreach. Those emails will not get a reply. Contractors, manufacturers, and referral networks are welcome to write to us about factual errors in how we describe their industry. If you run a referral program, you may tell us it exists, but that alone will not get you recommended: placement is never for sale, and the way we are paid is set out in full on our How We Get Paid page.

Who you are writing to

Home Modification Grants is an independent publication. We are not a government agency, we are not affiliated with Medicare, Medicaid, the Department of Veterans Affairs, HUD, or USDA, and we do not process applications for any program described on this site. If a page here ever reads like a government form, we have made a mistake and would like to hear about it.
